Automation Software: GUI
Fully integrated control, network, visualization and information technology systems.
The client

Rockwell Automation, one of the world’s largest companies dedicated to industrial automation and information, makes its customers more productive and the world more sustainable. Headquartered in Cleveland, OH, Rockwell Automation employs about 21,000 people serving customers in more than 80 countries.
The work

The software branch of Rockwell Automation, Rockwell Software, needed front-end graphics developed for the overhaul of its automation and control software. This included the design of a cohesive and universal graphical user interface (GUI) with 10+ GUI themes.
The challenge

Based on a core set of elements and functions, each GUI theme had to maintain Rockwell Software's high standards for user interaction, while at the same time offering a distinct graphical appearance. The GUI was designed to exist on Allem-Bradley's new touch screen panels. Standards regarding alarm and alert colors, contrast between device and control states, and touch-capabilities were all integral during theme development. All layers of each interface theme had to be color changeable.
